P ylos; cosy port. The shopping center is an attraction like a magnet for various surrounding villages. A great variety in shops. For example, there is an Italian who makes his own tagliatelle while singing the Italian opera.
The square: the Platia ton Trion Navarchon, is bordered by neoclassical houses, and has many terraces under the plane-trees. There is an obelisk, a memorial to the three conquerors of Navarino; a decisive naval battle during the Greek War of Independence on 27 October 1827. This day of liberation is every year celebrated in Pylos. There is a small archeological museum with splendid polished celts from the prehistory and a marvelous glass bowl from the Roman Empire.
A hospitable hotel with magnificent view of the square, the harbour and the sea. Many activities take place in the square and there are terraces as well. The hotel was renovated in 2007. Now the rooms have air conditioning, TV, fridge and modern sanitary fittings. Average prices.
