The fishing village Nikiana in the isle of Lekada/Lefkas came into being because of the fact that the inhabitants of the mountain village Alexandros moved to the coast. Nowadays not many people are living in Alexandros anymore. Nikiana is situated 9 kilometres from Lefkada-city at the foot of the Mount Skaros Mountain. This mountain has a unique oak wood.
The surroundings are rather green and not yet too crowded in summer. It is an ideal place for windsurfing, a nature walking tour or climbing expeditions. The view into the direction of the continent is very beautiful.
