K atakolo; the Katakolo Bay is situated between Katakolo and Pyrgos .A quiet village where many Greek holiday-goers can be found. They have a beach hut there. Cruise ships regularly moor there, so that people can visit Olympia.
A bit further, however via a difficult way, you find the bay of Ayiou Andrea. Here you find a dilapidated fortress Pondikastro. The name comes from pondika (field-mouse) or pontos (Old Greek for sea).
Hotel 1 kilometre of the sociable port and 10 kilometres of Pyrgos. The hotel is a good operating base to Ancient Olympia, Apollo's temple, Ancient Fea and Ancient Ilida. Nearby the mineral shovels in Kyllini or to the nature areas Stofylia and Kalogria. The hotel has devised a restaurant an Olympic swimming pool with hydro massage and recreation ground. Chambers with airco, TV, Internet access and telephone. The hotel owner finds the Greek tradition of hospitality most important for its hotel.
Interesting gallery at the beginning of the shopping street. They sell modern art, reproductions with a certificate of authenticity, CD 's, picture postcards and books; also many in Dutch. The book: "The antique Greece" is highly recommended. It has pictures with transparent sheets across the pages to show how really beautiful the original temples have been.
