G alaxidi, a quiet village at 30 kilometres from Delphi. The surroundings are green with a great variety in vegetation. Galaxidi has beautiful quiet beaches and a large forest along the coast. There is also an old mill. Every Thursday there is a country market. And you'll find there a monastery and several churches, such as the Aghios Nikolaos. This church is the largest building of the city and was built on a hill. The church has a unique wooden icon stand.
Another church, the Aghia Paraskevi is famous for its calendar in the marble floor. Every day at twelve the sunlight marks a spot on the floor which shows the day of the year. The sea museum shows life of the inhabitants of the past 3.000 years. Galaxidi was famous for its harbour, boat builders and reliable seamen. Many of these old traditions are still to be found there. In the harbour they are still building boats and the fishermen are still active.
