Ancient Assini - Nafplio
From the Kastraki Beach it is only 500 metres walking to Ancient Assini or Asine, a romantic place 5 kilometres from Nafplio. Here the poet and Nobel Prize winner Yoryos Seferis got his inspiration. This is also the place that was mentioned as the acropolis of Ancient Assini by the Greek poet Homer. From 1922 until 1930 Swedish archaeologists were excavating the Assini kingdom under supervision of crown prince Gustav. Now there are 25 tombs that can be visited, and also walls from the acropolis can be seen. For walkers it is a good area with special plants and it had wonderful panoramic views. The excursion is from Ancient Assini to Nafplio via unknown centuries-old footpaths. The walking tour is made every Wednesday and costs € 10 per person. Registration and gathering with Gina:
